Archivando

It may be hard to imagine "silence" in Shibuya especially if you had a chance to peep in their "exotic" journey of Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson, but actually quite a few districts have been one of the most popular and posh residential areas in Tokyo, with tranquility and accessibility of 15-minutes-walk to the centre of Shibuya.

A small shop called "Archivando" is situated on a modest shopping street of that area, in Kamiyama-cho. As the name suggests, its location is just on the start of a gentle slope.

The display changes every few weeks
The owner, Mr. Kamiya Tomoyuki, used to be an established commercial shop designer and you can certainly enjoy the elements of his previous life inside of this shop in the minimal and mannish interior and a design plan simply stuck on the undressed concrete wall.

The selection of products covers both domestic and international kitchen tools, stationery, toiletries and various items by individual craftsmen.
Although the choice of products are supervised by the owner of Roundabout in Kichijyoji, the simple space enables us to concentrate on the practical and aesthetic forms and materials of items, and let us imagine life with them.

Enamelware by Noda Horo, magewappa lunch boxes, skillet by Turk, cutleries by Laguiole...

Those tools deliver tastes and smells directly to my head.
How am I going to use them? How are they going to use me to make them used?
This kind of shops will stay next to you but can also update you little by little.

This is the place where you can have a deep breath after being squeezed at the Shibuya Crossing.
